Counseling for Children, Teens, Adults and Families
ABOUT MOE VAHID, LMSW
I specialize in helping children, teens, and families who are struggling with anxiety and OCD. Whether it’s guiding individuals to face their fears or supporting parents through the challenges anxiety brings, I focus on helping reduce anxiety while building courage and confidence.
As the son of immigrant parents, I learned to navigate life’s challenges early on. There were times when I needed to step in and assist my parents, and from a young age, others often turned to me for advice. These experiences inspired me to pursue a career focused on helping others.
Before transitioning to private practice, I spent four years in a residential facility, supporting teens with behavioral challenges, anxiety, OCD and depression. I also have experience leading therapeutic groups for children and enjoy being creative to make therapy engaging and fun.
I use Exposure Response Prevention Therapy, which is the gold standard for treatment, when treating anxiety and OCD. I also work hard to create an inclusive, safe space, one that I would have appreciated when I was younger.
Some techniques I use to decrease anxiety include: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). For family support, I draw on Attachment-Based Family Therapy (ABFT).
I earned my masters degree from the University of Connecticut with a focus on Individual, Group, and Family Practice (IGFP).
Outside of counseling, you might find me trying out restaurant specials, enjoying the outdoors in every season, spending time with family, or exploring new learning opportunities.
